Seeking Action from Auckland Transport

posted in: Latest News 0

Residents in Buttle Street are increasingly concerned at the commuter and school parking across the Buttle Street – Arney Road intersection.  This is creating an extreme hazard for residents as they enter and exit Buttle Street, which is a narrow hillside cul-de-sac. Residents are requesting action from AT in the form of yellow lines that will prevent parking across the corner. To date AT’s findings are that “the intersection has been operating relatively safely with no reported crashes over the last five years”. The expectation is that those parking police themselves as it is already illegal to park within six metres of an intersection. We are very disturbed at the cavalier attitude AT has to the safety of its residents and that it needs a series of accidents for action to occur.

Commuter parking is increasingly an issue in Remuera for streets in proximity to Remuera Road and transport links, made worse by parking restrictions in Newmarket. This issue is creating serious inconvenience and safety issues for our residents.  Let us know your stories.
