Auckland Transport (AT) is continuing to rollout double decker buses on key routes across Auckland, including route 75 (Glen Innes to Wynyard Quarter via Remuera Road and Newmarket), because of the need to increase capacity on high use public transport routes.
The new route was only introduced in July 2018 and is already very well used. This proposal includes mitigation measures to ensure double decker buses have sufficient vertical and horizontal clearance around trees, verandas and poles to travel safely along the route, and to navigate safely in and out of bus stops. In addition to trimming trees and cutting back verandas along the route, civil works including kerb buildouts, relocation or upgrade of existing bus stops, installation of traffic islands and road markings are required.
