Portland Road Flooding Prevention

Councillor Desley Simpson is working on resolving the longstanding issue of flooding on Portland Road which has been a major hazard for residents and for those driving along Portland Road. The regional healthy waters project for flood mitigation on Portland Road is currently in the design phase. The goal is to reduce flooding on the Shore Rd end of Portland Road and the flooding of Portland Reserve from the ‘creek’ during heavy rain events. Council staff advise they are progressing with the design of the two major elements to this project; raising the road and environmental works to improve the functioning of the wetlands in Waitaramoa Reserve and Portland Reserve. As the design progresses, Council will be in touch to inform residents in the immediate area on the planned works and to seek feedback. To be advised.
