Eastbourne Road Flood Mitigation Works

Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters Department are progressing with plans to upgrade the public stormwater infrastructure to minimise flooding in your area.

We have begun site investigations as the first phase of upgrading local stormwater infrastructure to address flooding issues on Eastbourne Road.

The plan is to install a new stormwater pipe, catchpits and improve kerb and channel formations along Eastbourne Road to better contain stormwater flows from entering private properties.

What to expect

Before we can develop a preliminary design, we first need to carry out ground condition monitoring. Residents can expect to see engineers installing monitoring equipment over the next couple of weeks, with the majority of the work taking place on public land. The work is currently underway and is scheduled to finish at the end of August.

We may need access to private properties and will talk directly to landowners about this and how we can access their properties.

This initial monitoring will enable a preliminary design to be developed. Once completed we will keep residents informed by sharing the design before we commit to a more detailed design scheme.

At this stage we are aiming to have the preliminary design completed by the end of this year, with the aim of starting works in late 2020.

These works are being managed by GHD NZ Ltd. Should you have any queries, concerns or would like to stay up to date with the project, please feel free to contact Georgia Smyth (GHD Community Liaison) on 027 252 1532 or georgia.smyth@ghd.com.
