There is evidence that rats are an increasing problem across Auckland City this winter and it appears that they are well established in our valley. A number of traps are in place close to the stream and they’ve been found to have been emptied of bait. Rats are on-going risk to bird-life and of course, to our homes.
We urgently need more traps to be placed and monitored along the valley floor. There’s a good supply of traps and bait courtesy of Auckland Council and both (or either) can be delivered to your door. Just drop Angela a line – wainunu22a@gmail.com
The original traps were placed by Council. It would be wonderful to have a volunteer or two to monitor and re-bait traps. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated by your neighbours and all who live in the valley.
Another working bee is being organised for early August – there’ll be a notice of that shortly.
