Update: Clonbern Carpark – Message from New World

posted in: Latest News 0

Dear Customers and Local Remuera Community Members,

Well after a couple of weeks of demolition the car park will reopen this Saturday the 18th of January. There is still some resealing work and marking to be done but this will be completed bit by bit over the next week.

The carpark was pulled down because Auckland Council were concerned to reopen it, utilising the usual fall-back option of citing health and safety concerns in regards to the structural integrity of the building.

I will also give you an update on the next steps of the redevelopment process.

What remains of the carpark will now be for sale. This tender process is expected to take around 6 months to be completed. We’re hopeful that at the end of this process that there will be a successful outcome in which a new retail development will take place in place of the existing area.

It is expected that the redevelopment of the local Remuera Supermarket will take place over the next 2 to 3 years. This timeframe includes the sale process, resource consents, building contracts and the actual re-development of the retail space.

I’m very excited about this and can’t wait to see what this new retail development will bring to our local community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported New World Remuera and the rest of our community during this time. It is much appreciated and I can’t wait to get back to some normality over the next few weeks.

Kind Regards,
The Local Grocer and RBA Chairman – Adrian Barkla
