Two Auckland Council funds that support waste minimisation projects will open for applications from 1 to 30 September 2016.
They are:
1. The Waste Minimisation and Innovation Fund:
This fund is focussed on supporting new ideas and initiatives which reduce waste going to landfill in the Auckland region. Applications will be accepted from businesses, community groups, iwi and mataawaka groups, and educational organisations. The WMIF has up to $475,000 to distribute in this grants round, in addition to any funds carried forward from previous years. Groups can apply for grants ranging in value from $250 to $50,000.
2. The Love Food Hate Waste Fund:
This year, for the first time, small grants will also be available to Aucklanders from a Love Food Hate Waste Fund specifically for projects aimed at reducing food waste sent to landfill through behaviour change. Grants of up to $1,000 will be available from the fund which has $40,000 in total to distribute. This fund is part of a New Zealand-wide campaign. Priority will be given to projects that can be delivered in November during the launch of the nation-wide campaign.
More information about these funds is available online here.
