Our readers will have noticed the empty shop-fronts in Cole’s Buildings, between 392 and 398 Remuera Road. The departure, just after Easter, of the premium butchery at 392 Remuera Road, long a feature of our community, has been particularly missed.
Happily, it seems that the “dead” area along this vacant strip is only temporary. We understand that earthquake strengthening activity and planned upgrades are the reasons for the vacant stores, which we can expect soon to be filled with new tenants.
Adjacent retailers will certainly hope so – empty stores are not good for business. Sadly, it seems that the premium butchery operators will not be back. As with many other retailers, their business focus is now on on-line ordering and supply.
