The Remuera Residents Association held its Annual General Meeting on 4th July 2017.

A new Committee was elected at this meeting.

In summary:

General Business & Issues discussed were:

1) Suggested Angle Parking at top of St Vincent Avenue
Agreed to investigate.

2) 4 Victoria Avenue (the site and building curently home to Remuera’s Community Advisory Board and Plunket Rooms)
Panuku (Auckland Council) contemplates re-purposing this site. Though conducted last February, the results of a Community Facilities Needs Survey which will shape Panuku’s decision are still not yet to hand. These results are to be presented at Orakei Local Board Meeting in July.

3) Resource Consent issued (non-notified) 358-364 Remuera Rd (incl Post Office)
Since the consent was granted, this property has been sold to new owners with the consent intact. (See our prior article for more details). It was resolved to keep a watching brief for design improvement, if this development proceeds.

4) Orakei Bay Village.

It was resolved to maintain a watching brief over this development, with its traffic challenges and further development plans. However, there is limited opportunity for Residents’ input.

4) Auckland Transport.

Auckland Transport (AT) had been invited to present an overview of its  current and planned projects & consultations to the meeting. However, AT advised that this information is not supplied to Residents Associations but only to Local Boards. AT’s  Relationship Manager, Felicity Merrington, had been invited to speak at this meeting, or to send an appropriate manager. No attendance eventuated.

Other issues traversed were:

5) Auckland Transport: Road Repairs in Victoria Avenue; kerbing and footpaths;  lights at Ngapipi Rd / Tamaki Drive intersection; the proposed cycle path from Orakei basin to Judges Bay; the new pedestrian crossing at Wootten Rd; and new Bus/Train network introduction.

6) Parks & Reserves in Remuera matters discussed were: Orakei Basin Advisory Group & the Car Park Access project; the current Ski Club Steps project; the poor condition of Mt Hobson,
and opportunity for residents involvement in planting days.

The meeting noted that the opportunity to provide this there for all.
