posted in: Latest News 0

We are now into the third second week of the 7 week consultation over the Auckland Council’s 10 year Budget/Plan 2015 -2025. All residents will have received the orange-coloured mail drop entitled” Household Summary – You’re 7 ticks away from deciding the future of Auckland”  The consultation period closes 4.00pm on Monday 16 March 2015

The key issues and proposals are organised as follows:

Investing in Auckland, Fixing Transport, Your Rates, Housing & Development, Local Board Priorities

There are 7 questions with a “tick box” on the public submission form – and space for your comments. Alternatively, you can submit on-line at www.shapeauckland.co.nz. It is on this website you will find the detailed document – it runs to over 750 pages!

By the end of the second week of 10yr Budget/Plan consultation there have been big numbers responding – almost 2,800 submissions, a lot more than time last time such a plan was developed (3 years ago).

Headlines:

·         Aucklanders don’t want a rates increase

·         Aucklanders want more investment in transport

·         No consensus on motorway charging vs rates/petro tax/other (although more favour motorway charging)

·         A small majority oppose the new Development Auckland CCO

·         Most (43%) want to retain the existing $350 UAGC

·         A clear majority do not want business rates reduced.

To help inform your thinking, we have organised a Public Meeting and invited the Mayor to attend. Mayor Brown has agreed to explain the context of the plan, it’s highlights, and be available for questions and concerns to be expressed. The Orakei Local Board will be present (Chair: Desley Simpson) to outline the priorities, and provide background information for Remuera Residents

Meeting Tuesday 17th February – 7.30pm – at the Church Hall, St Pauls Methodist Church, 12 St Vincent Avenue, Remuera.

See you there!
