Council Adopts Representation Review Proposals

posted in: Latest News 0

On 18 October, Auckland Council adopted its final proposal for a review of representation arrangements, which details changes to electoral boundaries, for the 2019 local government elections. Auckland currently has 13 wards and a review of these showed that population growth in the city ward (Waitemata and Gulf) was in excess of ratios.

Following public submissions Council made the decision to move the communities of Parnell, Newmarket, Grafton and Newton into the Ōrākei ward to lower the ratio for the city. In doing that Ōrākei was too big so the communities of Ellerslie and St Johns (east of St Johns Rd) have been moved into the Maungakiekie Ward.  Further information.
