As we write, the Auckland Council is nearing completion of its decisions on the Auckland Unitary Plan. Completion is expected today, 15 August 2016.
As reported on our web-site earlier, the proposed Unitary Plan has far-reaching implications for Remuera.
A summary of the Governing Body’s latest decisions can be found in the Media Centre section of Auckland Council’s web-site. Regularly updated, this site is worth monitoring for the most recent information on the Unitary Plan.
Reassuringly, the Council appears to have rejected several of the Independent Hearings Panel’s more contentious recommendations – for example, deletion of the minimum dwelling size standard, and amending the threshold for requiring resource consent for three or more dwellings to five or more dwellings in the Mixed Housing Suburban and Mixed Housing Urban zones.
Remuera residents await the full outcome of this process with great interest.
