Roadworks slow key Remuera routes

Vic Ave RoadworksRoad maintenance works on key Remuera roads have slowed traffic in the New Year.

Road reconstruction
remains in full swing on Shore Road, between Portland and Orakei Roads, and at the bottom of Victoria Avenue below Sonia Avenue. To accommodate construction activity, only single lanes are sometimes open, with portable traffic lights controlling traffic flows along Shore Road, and inflows from Victoria Avenue, in one direction at a time. Provision has been made for sections of road to be entirely closed from 6pm to 6am each night. Targeted for completion by 30 January, this project will continue beyond that date.

Pedestrian footways on either side of Victoria Avenue between Remuera Road and Tirohanga Avenue are also being renewed, one side at a time. Car parking along this stretch has temporarily been suspended. This work is scheduled for completion by mid-February – and is a prelude to road resurfacing of Victoria Avenue in the same area later this year.

From 16 -27 January, Koraha Road  was subject to intermittent road closures to accommodate road reconstruction between Remuera Road and Abbot’s Way. At 30 January, work on this project was not yet complete, with street-parking limitations and judder-bar resurfacing still in progress at several points.

Drivers are asked to exercise patience and caution as these projects progress.
