Summer in Remuera

posted in: Latest News 0

Can you imagine a time when life is not consumed by traffic, wet days, noise and the general hurly-burly of everyday life – enter Remuera in the summertime. While away the hazy days of summer by enjoying the pleasures of summer at home.

Get on the water

Enjoy the improved access to Hobson Bay for kayaks and paddle-boards. Launch yourself from the purpose-built ramp in the Shore Road Reserve. This enables easy access to the water within two hours each side of high tide. Good trips are to Judges Bay, Ōrākei Bay Village, the Ōrākei Basin or for the more adventurous past the boat sheds and out to sea.  For further information contact Margot at margot@nfpworks.co.nz.

At the bottom of Victoria Avenue is Wilson’s Beach. You can also reach Wilson’s Beach via the Hobson Bay Walkway, which starts behind Saint Kentigern School on Shore Road. A pleasant spot to picnic, swim or kayak.

Go for a walk

There are an increasing number of walkway options in the Auckland region. Locally the most popular short walks are Ōrākei Basin WalkOhinerau/Mt Hobson, Hobson Bay Walkway, and Waiatarua Reserve freshwater wetlands. In addition you can discover early Remuera by taking a heritage walk through the suburb. Walk off all the seasonal indulgences by learning more about your neighbourhood.
