Remuera residents will have been surprised and pleased to read of the proposed development of Bruce McLaren’s original garage at 586-592 Remuera Road, announced in today’s NZ Herald.
The building is listed Category 1 – a place of special or outstanding historical or cultural significance or value – by Heritage New Zealand.
The accompanying illustration suggests that the scale and design of the new development will be in sympathy with surrounding buildings.
Like the now almost complete renovation at 411-413 Remuera Road, McLaren’s Garage as illustrated, promises to be a pleasing addition to the neighbourhood.
