As advised in earlier posts, the Auckland Unitary Plan is close to being decided by the Auckland Council through a series of committee meetings beginning this week.
Starting Wednesday August 10, up to seven days of committee meetings will begin. The Auckland Development Committee will consider the Independent Advisory Panel’s (the Panel’s) recommendations and then, in turn, make recommendations to the council’s Governing Body, which will finalise the decisions.
The Development Committee’s meetings will be open to the public and viewable on the council’s live streaming service.
Strong public interest can be expected.
To assist the Council in its decision-making, council staff have undertaken a full review of the Panel’s recommendations and have prepared a report with recommendations to the council on which of these to accept or reject.
This council staff report comprises several sections. Recommendations are set out in the boxes at the end of each section. For a summary of these recommendations, see “Late changes to the Unitary Plan” in the New Zealand Herald article which may be found here.
